Math at First Sight

In matters mathematical, my sense of visual intuition is more developed than my ability to work with symbols. Consequently I've been attracted to subjects in recreational mathematics that involve geometrical figures that I can see and manipulate. I've been especially interested in polyominoes and other polyforms, and I've come up with some new problems and results that I'm quite happy with.

- Polyomino Covers: Variations on the theme of figures that can have any member of a set of polyominoes placed within them. With Python solver code.
- Pentomino Coloring Problems: Map colorings on pentomino tilings with a twist. Four twists, in fact.

- Non-rigid Polyforms: Flexible polyform variations.
- Square Grid Puzzles: Pen and paper puzzles on square grids.
- Visualizing Sequences of Numbers: Exploring numerical sequences by creating graphical images from them.
- L-topia: A puzzle set I had manufactured from laser-cut plastic. It turned out quite nicely.
- Lissajous Demo: Uses SVG and Javascript. Requires a fancy modern browser.
